Mel has worked for couple of companies, the main one being howies where she designed a wide range of product. One of the main product design areas was merino wool base layers, followed by knitwear and casual jersey wear. All products had a design story in regards to its function and also its fabric usage being environmentally considered. This was very important to the product, the catalogue and the brand itself as howies was one of the first UK companies to use organic cotton jersey, organic denim, Ventile, merino wool and fibres too. Mel also designed wovens including womens’ shirts, dresses, jackets, Mel’s specialism is in knitwear from jumpers to active wear. She has a love for Fair Isles designs and loves to use pattern and colour. Here are some examples of Mel’s work.

“NBL lights” for Winter 2008. This design was recoloured and reintroduced every season for 7 years now.
