This week, I have it all to myself, well apart from looking after the Beagle of course. Steve is working flat out which means I can get stuck into what I’ve been thinking about for several weeks now.

Monday over in this new house is Laundry day I’ve decided. Its picking up all the stuff left around the place from the weekend, the clothes, the empty bottles uh hum and making everything clean again. I have to say this has almost been a pleasure, thanks to my laundry room.

I’ve never had one before and its a revelation!

Piles of clean washing

I have a cupboard for my ironing board, iron, dryer, hoover, iron, buckets and mops, then cupboards for Georges stuff, a cupboard for washing powder and other cleaning stuff, a sink, the washing machine, doors outside to a decking area to dry stuff on and wow it makes life so much easier.

My fab Hamman towel drying, it dries super quick and has been fantastic over here

My favourite part is we have a laundry chute! Yes a slide up door, upstairs on the landing which we (yes we, even my Steve) throw our dirty laundry down so when I go to the laundry room, hey presto its all there hidden by another sliding door and I can pick and choose what to wash.

Laundry waiting in the laundry chute and piles of ironing & clean stuff, all very organised :-)

I even don’t mind doing the ironing now, the door is open and George comes to say hello, I give him a treat and all is good.

So that was Monday and to be fair half of Tuesday this week (I neglected a few things last week) and the rest of Tuesday was admin time.

So yesterday, Wednesday I had a whole day to do what I wanted to and that meant sit down, and try and get some of the ideas I’ve had burning away in my head down on paper. I did ok, but I had a few issues, namely a little but noisy one called George.

First thing this morning he had the devil in him!

Well he’s been so good for the last few days, but he must have had some pent up energy because all he did all day was squeak and want to play and drive me mad. This was George at 8.30 in the morning, he had run off with a pair of my Steves underwear which I had decided was looking a bit ropey so they were going in the bin. George thought otherwise and he had great fun tearing them up!

Silly Beagle

I lasted until lunch time and then we walked in the midday sun (not too hot yet, phew) around the nearby streets. I took photos of flowers and interesting letter boxes while George sniffed, puffed and panted.

Gorgeous colours

A lot of people seem to make their own boxes, they come in all shapes and sizes

Very rustic

After lunch things improved for a couple of hours and I managed to organise some photos, practise taking better photographs, read some blogs, create a colour palette and make some lists. But by 3.30Pm the squeaking started again, I carried on working with my music playing loudly until 4pm when I had had enough, again, so I and George went out for a drive in the Jeep to the doggy park. After plenty of running around he was a quiet pooch all evening, hurray!

Today I am having some better luck, I let him into the house and oh what a different dog, he’s been chilling on the sofa sleeping away while I’ve been working, well playing really. I’m working on designing and researching but it doesn’t really feel like work as I am choosing to do it, it’s good to have a project.

So far today I have:

Done some admin type jobs, pay bills etc.

Tweaked a colour palette for my design work

Created mini colour palettes with inspirational photos

A mini colour palette, sneak peak of the start of the journey, I don’t know where its going, fun!

Some other things to do:

Create the first in a collection of new patterns

Finish designing first ‘George’ soft toy / plushie

In the next few days:

Go and find the Library and find some books

Go to the Op shop & look for a new table to knit on, stools and anything else I can restore and use around the house

Go to the Mammas Market on Saturday, apparently it’s one of the best handmade markets in Australia.

So soon, will you believe it, I will actually be making something again, it seems like forever since I actually did created anything. The last time was in January, it’s felt like there’s been something missing the whole time and now it’s September, this year is vanishing before my eyes.

Oh by the way, I’ve updated my About page as I had forgotten to update it since moving from Perth, so if you’re new to my blog you can take a look on the link above or at the top of this blog.
