Hello, its been a long time with no post from me, we’ve been unpacking, having guests stay and trying to settle into a new routine and now things are beginning to calm down into a new routine so today I had a chance to take some snaps of our new home and get them up on this blog.
We moved from the UK to Perth almost 5 months ago now and we’re now into our third week on the Sunshine coast we’re finally beginning to feel like we’ve found not only Australia, but also a piece of home and what feels like serenity.
This house we’re in is surrounded by trees and houses nestled in amongst forests, palm trees, hills and valleys with amazing, flora and fauna all around. Everywhere you look its bursting out at you, I’m going to have to find a book so I can start identifying all the species as they all look fascinating.
One of the best bits is waking up to a view out to the trees, its the first thing I see in the morning as the sun slowly rises. With the sun, the birds start to squark and squeal, dogs start to bark and we jump out of bed into our new bathroom followed shortly to the kitchen and open lounge for breakfast.

A non cluttered bedroom, bliss. Australians get this bit right by building separate robes, ours is in-between the bedroom and the bathroom

This is the kind of bathroom we wanted in our home back in Wales, with a free standing bath, wet room with shower and twin basins too.

We are a bit thin on the ground in regards to furniture but luckily our little seems to be going quite a long way at the moment and its looking quite nice and casual

My new studio where some exciting things will be happening soon, its smaller than the other one back in perth but so much nicer

The hall to the front door to a raised walkway around the side of the house, I love how the light is has a green tinge to it. We even have a security gate with an intercome and a buzzer so we can unlock the door from inside, great fun.

we’ve been cooking on the BBQ grill almost every night and its only just turning into spring. My Steve is the best BBQ chef.

In the evening walking George back at the house, we admire the view of the Glass House mountains silhouetted in the distance. You can see the mountains at every high view point around us.

This is the side of the house, showing the water tanks which collect the rain water which is used for the toilets and washing machine. George runs up and down these boulder steps to check out who’s passing the house during the day.
So thats the house, we’re in and it’s all good.
Next I will be concentrating on a couple of things.
1. Finding odd bits of furniture we need, hopefully second hand which I can paint like stools and chairs which we can use here and there.
2. Surfing, SUPing, outdoor sports, enjoying this life and appreciating every moment.
3. Supporting my Steve of course, and looking after George, making sure they’re fed, walked, beds are made, shirts are ironed, bills are paid and expenses are done.
4. A brand new project, something fun, but I think I’ll save talking about that for another day.
I hope you enjoy seeing the photos I’ve posted, I had tons and so I chose the highlights, there will be many more photos posted over time I’m sure.
Ok time for sleep now and then up for a jog with George in the morning.
Bye for now xxx
Mel

flipping heck mel!!!! you must feel like you are on a second honeymoon!!!!! It looks absolutely amazing!
Hey Anja, it is amazing and you’ve just reminded me, we didn’t go on a honeymoon, Steve said we had the rest of our lives which would be our honeymoon and it looks like he was right! Wish you were just down the road and could come and stay
Hi Mellie,
I live in Carmarthenshire and am a “beadaholic”! I first came across your blog by discovering your imaginative designs and have been reading your updates and following your adventures ever since. So glad to see that you’ve found such a beautiful place to settle and that George obviously enjoys it too. Look forward to reading more and seeing photos of your new life in Aus.
Kind regards
Jacky
Hi Jacky, thanks for commenting, its nice to hear from people who find my blog. I used to love making jewellery with beads years ago, so I can appreciate your love for them. I’m going to be knitting some new things soon and I’m going to be needing a lot of imagination too. I’ll post about this and my adventures over here, so I hope you enjoy
I love your beautiful house! It’s the kind of place that can be sparsely furnished and look fantastic.
Yes minimal but comfy, we thought we might need a lot but we don’t which is great. I’m looking into some big bean bag loungers which would be good on the veranda, the deck, by the pool or in the TV lounge.
Sounds perfect! And how absolutely wonderful to have a veranda in the trees!
it is beautiful !!!
