After several phone calls back and forth chasing a few last minute references, we found out yesterday morning that we had been accepted and we got the house!
So that was house number 2, the Eco house. Here’s the written description about the house:
“Soaring roof lines to the north, inviting cool summer breezes and abundant natural light into spacious living zones flowing between the indoor and the outdoor. Ecologically sensitive choice of materials and design that respond to Buderim’s subtropical climate allowing year round enjoyment of expansive decks and verandahs without the use of high energy air conditioners and heating. Bold and intelligent design considerations that enhance lifestyle and minimize maintenance. The upper floor provides private and secure entry into a sophisticated main living zone, the centre piece being a superbly designed and equipped kitchen complimented by an integrated outdoor barbeque/kitchen.”
* Main bedroom and study or fifth bedroom on upper floor
* Children’s bedroom and rumpus downstairs
* Rumpus flowing from deck to lawn area
* Sparkling inground pool with beach entry
* 10,000 ltr integrated rainwater storage
* Ultra high garage vehicle clearance
* Additional off street parking
* Chris Morrison architect
* Walking distance to school and village
We’re super happy as this IS a dream house and we shall relish living there as it may be a once in a lifetime opportunity to live somewhere like this.
I’m really looking forward to making it home, I’m thinking lots of plants and herbs in the kitchen and outside veranda area by the BBQ (herbs keep away the flies and mossies so that will be good and taste great on the BBQ too). A big dining/ meeting table and chairs for diners and Steves work meetings between the kitchen and the lounge.
A sofa or two facing the windows and the trees, some big pouffs, a large rug, a coffee table and maybe an armchair, oh and some more tall potted plants.

The lounge. Some huge bean bags would be great to read to sit and read a book and admire the view or drag out onto the veranda on a warm day
Downstairs, the ‘romper’ room will be where I hang out when Steve’s got people over for work and where we’ll watch movies. I’d quite like a lounge without the TV especially with the nice outlook it would be a shame to spoil it.
The front ‘bedroom’ could be Steves office and I can have a down stairs bedroom for my knitting and making. We’ll have to make George a Den somewhere outside near the back utility door I think.
There’s tons of parking and tons of storage so that will be great for all our kayaks etc.
I’ll be looking on Pinterest for some more design ideas and I’ll be adding to my “new home dream” board, take a look if you fancy.

Congrats!! Great looking house!
Beautiful house! I hope it is as wonderful to live in as it is to look at!
Yes I hope so too, it’s hard you just don’t know what it will be like until you live there. I’ll post about it when we know
I think it’s a much nicer house than the magazine one, anyway. I look forward to hearing more about it.
Yes I do too, there was something that bothered me about that one, this one is much softer.
OMG mellie!!! that house looks amazing! the kitchen looks great – i wish i could spent an evening there cooking supper with you. Very envious…and very very happy for you x
That would be so cool to cook with you here Anja. Oh I know, when you finish your cookbook I’ll buy one and cook your recipes and blog about it and that will be as close as we can get. I’m so glad we had some cooking sessions when I was back in the UK, I had no idea that life was going to bring me to Australia!
