In my last post I mentioned having seen a Pelican on the Swan river  in Perth near where we live but I had no camera with me.

Well this Sunday morning it was fresh and sunny and I happened to be feeling rather hungover so when Steve suggested going for a paddle I said I would come and read my book on the bank. I had been reading for about 40 minutes when I heard a child exlaiming “look look Pelican Pelican” when I looked up, there it was straight in front of me.

Wow, I think they are so impressive.

I love how big they are, their bold black and white feathers, their very pale soft pink huge beaks, their quite graphic and bold in appearance, this one doesn’t quite look real but he was.

It just swam one way then turned around, swam back the other way and went under the jetty and then flew off.

I felt really happy to see one so close,  I think I am going to be sooo excited when I spot dolphins, Whales, Kangaroos, Koalas and lots more animals too.
