Last week we were in Portugal, staying in a small place called Guimaraes, it was beautifil and very hot for the time of year, we had upto 33 degrees, the locals said it was too hot and it was normal for weather in August, not April, and now I am sitting at home and it is cold and pooring with rain.
anyway, the things I liked most about our visit were seeing our suppliers who we work with every day but I haven’t seen for about 3 years. Having lunch outside eating BBQ fresh fish, fresh lemonade and fresh salad, very simple, very fresh and very yummy, ah the heat with the smell of things cooking on the BBQ was the smell of summer.
I am looking forward to cooking fresh fish in my chimnea when the rain goes away and the sun comes out and also making some of my own lemonade, I think I know how to make it, but i found this nice post of how “the former chef” makes it so I will use this as a guide and taste and experiment.
The other thing I loved was the smell of flowers everywhere, we were shown a really cute vegetarian restaurant with a garden, just close to the fairy castle near our hotel and they had jasmine growing outside and it was beautiful, so last sunday I bought my own plant to start growing outside my kitchen window.
Here are some photos from our trip.
